About the Performers

Ted Brown, saxophone, is a retired mechanical engineer from NASA and other Bay Area companies who has played clarinet and saxophone in a number of Bay Area ensembles.

 

David Miller, saxophone, has played clarinet and saxophone in many ensembles and orchestras in the UK and in the Bay Area, and enjoys a wide range of musical styles. When not playing music, he has taught at Stanford University.


Jerome Nehemiah, saxophone, plays clarinet and saxophone with a number of South Bay jazz bands and orchestras and smaller jazz and classical ensembles. He started the LGS Big Band with Mark Schwartz in 2005. He is a retired physician/surgeon and Covid advisor for the Silicon Valley Arts Coalition.


Bill Palmer, violin, is an avid chamber and orchestral musician. He is concertmaster of the Winchester Orchestra. Recent solo appearances include the Dvořák Violin Concerto, Vaughan Williams The Lark Ascending. He serves as Treasurer and Membership Secretary for the American Beethoven Society. 


John Rosenman, MD, cello, is a vascular surgeon by vocation and a cellist by avocation. An avid chamber musician since his youth, his former teachers included Robert Sayre and Lazlo Varga. 


Mark Schwartz, saxophone, after graduating from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, has performed with several local musical ensembles including the Sereno Saxophone Quartet (2010-), Los Gatos-Saratoga Big Band (2005-), San Jose Wind Symphony (2003-2004), as well as several theater groups.


The Sereno Quartet plays original and transcribed music for saxophone quartet in many genres. 


Richard Sogg, piano, has studied with Beryl Rubinstein, John Delevoryas, Adolph Baller, and Menahem Pressler. He has been a soloist with the Boston Symphony, San Jose Symphony, Mission Chamber Orchestra, Nova Vista Symphony, and Master Sinfonia. In his other life, he specialized in neuro-ophthalmology and trained in Boston, Cleveland and San Francisco. He is Professor Emeritus in Ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
