Glenn Fisher, cello, began playing in the 5th grade, and started playing chamber music soon after with his family. He played in orchestra through college, then spent several summers playing at Music from Bear Valley. He was principal cellist of the Peninsula Symphony for 20 years. He performs regularly with a variety of groups in local chamber music concerts. His teachers include Gabor Reijto, Margaret Rowell, and currently Stephen Harrison.
Robert Marcus, clarinetist, has recently celebrated his 70th year of playing the clarinet. His studies in Los Angeles were with Mitchell Lurie and Antonio Raimondi. He had additional training at the Music Academy of the West. Although his primary career was in medicine, Dr. Marcus has been an active chamber and orchestra musician. As principal clarinetist of the Redwood Symphony, he soloed in the Mozart Clarinet Concerto, Miguel del Aguila’s Second Clarinet Concerto, John Adams’ “Gnarly Buttons” and Osvaldo Golijov’s “The Dreams and Prayer of Isaac the Blind,” as well as Luciano Berio’s orchestral transcription of the Brahms F minor Clarinet Sonata.
Richard Sogg, pianist, began his lessons at age 6 and has studied with Beryl Rubinstein, John Delevoryas, Adolph Baller, and most recently, with Menahem Pressler. He has been a soloist with the Boston Symphony, San Jose Symphony, Mission Chamber Orchestra, Nova Vista Symphony, and Master Sinfonia. He is an active chamber musician in Northern California and in Pittsburgh (PA). In his other life, he specialized in neuro-ophthalmology and trained in Boston, Cleveland and San Francisco. He is Professor Emeritus in Ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
